Ballinaboy Development:

In 2008 our Club formally concluded the acquistion of 8.5 acres of land at Ballinaboy, Ballinhassig.  This is a very significant event in the Club's history.  With ever increasing playing numbers at Under-Age and Adult Level and a very active Camogie Club, the provision of extra facilities will be very well received.

A full sized adult pitch and an Under-Age pitch has recently being constructed.

A Car park is also in place which will cater for over 100 cars. These facilities have an excellent location, very central to village life, a position our Club has maintained with great success since 1957.  These facilities are a major addition to the overall welfare of our club.

Club members, of all generations, can take great pride that our Club now has these extra playing facilities and August 4th, 2012 was a memorable day when our Intermediate Hurlers played Charleville in the first game on these grounds.

Our Club is grateful to Cork County Board for their assistance, to the public representatives of both the Carrigaline and the Bandon Electoral Areas, to Matthew Aherne for his technical assistance, to Mossie and Dan Healy, Jim Crowley and Michael Murphy who as Club members were the first people to set up the boundary fence on this land.

To all Club members who at all times gave great support during the protracted negotiations of this purchase.  Digging of percolation holes took place on Saturday 27th October, 2008 in front of a large attendance.

The Club undertook a major fundraising car draw with in excess of 20,000 tickets sold all over Cork County by all members.  This was a resounding success and these monies will be greatly needed to start our Ballinaboy development.

In August 2009 Martin O'Callaghan Contractors team entered Ballinaboy.  Weather was not great and work stopped as soon as it begun.  Once weather picked up cut and fill was undertaken which took up to 3 weeks and at this stage the outline of the big pitch could be seen. Weather picked up and development continued.  Development Committee met with David Quinn, Pitch expert to discuss soil to be put on the pitch.

Tenders recently went out for floodlighting.

Club Officers recently met with Mr Jimmy O'Gorman, Chairman and Mr Jim Forbes, P.R.O. of the Munster Council to discuss grants for our development.  Both Jimmy & Jim were given a tour of our Ballinaboy and Tulligmore facilities and were extremely impressed with our plans.

May 2010 under-age pitch digging began.

Both the main field and the under-age pitch are now fully finished.  Large wire behind goalposts are in place.  Dugouts are now completed.  The dressing rooms in Ballinaboy are now nearly completed. Work is currently ongoing in May 2015 to ensure the best possible playing surface on our new fields.

The new development in Ballinaboy has helped alleviate the pressures on our main field in Tulligmore. Training for Underage and Adult teams has now spread evenly between both fields.

By the end of 2015 the club hopes to have a Hurling Ball Alley and Astro Turf Pitch in place.
